About Author: Melissa Kaplan

Melissa Kaplan most recently served as Deputy Director of Government Relations at Citizens for Global Solutions, where she worked from 2010 to 2012. In this role, she managed CGS’s congressional outreach and advocacy efforts on a range of issues including U.N. funding, genocide prevention, and the International Criminal Court; coordinated the Washington Working Group on the ICC (WICC); and managed the Global Solutions PAC. Prior to this, she worked for six years as a Government Relations Associate at the Society for Women’s Health Research, where she focused on health, science, and appropriations issues. Melissa holds an Msc in Comparative Politics, with a focus on Europe and Russia, from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and an M.A. in Political Management from the George Washington University. She earned her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Connecticut. Melissa has also lived and taught English in Prague, Czech Republic, and traveled extensively through Europe. Her interests include travel, politics, yoga, and kickboxing.
