Morning Memo

  • Nine new members of the Committee on the Rights of the Child were elected yesterday by states party to the Convention. MMDNewswire has details from the meeting and the vote counts, but overlooked Hatem Kotrane’s (of Tunisia) election in its final tally of the number elected.   • The General Assembly voted this morning to fill the final five seats on the Peacebuilding Commission’s organizational committee for 2011-2012. See yesterday’s post for final membership chart, updated with today’s elected members.
  • The new UNWomen’s agency is hiring.
  • Turkey, which leaves the Security Council at the end of this month, plans to seek re-election as soon as possible.
