Ivan Šimonović to be the new ASG for Human Rights

UNElections.org has just reported a decision in the selection of the new Assistant Secretary General for Human Rights.

A high-level Croatian official has just informed the UNelections Campaign that Ivan Šimonović, Croatia’s Minister of Justice, will be appointed as the Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights. The appointment, made by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, is expected to be announced today.

Update II: BalkanInsight.com is noting that Mr. Šimonović beat out 127 other candidates (!) for the post.
